Bio
The Chicago-based chamber pop collective aren’t your typical debauched rock stars reveling in a pastiche of self-destructive clichés. On the group’s self-titled sophomore album they deliver songs that crackle with the sweeping intensity of life. Yet these are not precious mash notes from the Choir—Elia might be armed with pop smarts and impeccable songcraft, but the lyrics come from a deceptively dark place.

Led by Welsh-born singer/guitarist/keyboard player Elia, Scotland Yard Gospel Choir is a free-spirited folk/punk/chamber pop music collective made up of individuals who share the same visionary musical sense. More than 50 musicians appear on the sophomore album. More permanent members include Ellen O'Hayer (vocals, cello), Mark Yoshizumi (bass), Jay Santana (drums), Ethan Adelsman (violin) and Sam Johnson of Mucca Pazza (trumpet).

A who's who of the Chicago indie music community lent a hand, including Sally Timms, Nora O'Connor, Kelly Hogan, Nate Walcott (Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley), Brett Whitacre (Th' Legendary Shack Shakers), Matt Priest and Megan O'Conner (Canasta).
